Perhaps the earliest statement of the message of unity so important to the album's philosophy, 'One Sky Above' may -above all- be described as a celebration of diversity and tolerance. As such, it provides a strong lyrical exposition of the vast pallet of sounds and cultures so dear to the artist. Interestingly enough, it also sees regular experimentation with subtle differences between words themselves – differences which may seem subtle grammatically, but couldn't be more different in their interpretation. This is what leads the artist, for example, to note that 'we are distinct, but never distant'. Such words do well to remind us that the presence of differences is a given, but the way we choose to approach them will always remain a choice. The great paradox here is that these differences, on the face of it, seem to divide us, but at the same time, seem to have the power to unite us all the same. Such a notion may be best summarized in the observation that we possess 'infinite languages but need only one'. Such a
language is clearly the one being spoken here, and its meaning is clear for all to embrace, regardless of any differences we might observe.
